A Ukrainian attack on Russian-occupied Crimea killed one person and injured two others early Sunday, according to Moscow-installed officials. The strike hit northern Crimea as Russian and Ukrainian leaders held separate calls with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the ongoing war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he spoke with Trump to discuss the front line and agreed to continue talks in person at the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara.

The Kremlin described President Vladimir Putin's nearly 90-minute call with Trump as “constructive.” An adviser said Putin congratulated the U.S. on its anniversary and reiterated Russia's preference for a diplomatic settlement, while accusing Kyiv and its European allies of seeking to prolong the conflict.

Putin also claimed Russian forces are advancing and mentioned the capture of the Ukrainian stronghold of Kostyantynivka. Kyiv has denied that claim, stating the city remains under Ukrainian control.
