The FBI is investigating a fatal shooting at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, as an act of terrorism. One person was killed and two others, both US Army personnel, were injured.

The gunman, who had previously pleaded guilty to federal terror support charges and was released from prison this year, was killed after opening fire. FBI officials stated that Reserve Officer Training Corps students intervened and subdued the suspect.

FBI special agent Dominique Evans confirmed the suspect was not shot but died during the apprehension. The incident reportedly began when the suspect entered a classroom asking if it was an ROTC class.

FBI Director Kash Patel announced the Joint Terrorism Task Force is fully engaged. A law enforcement official identified the suspect as Mohamed Jalloh. The deceased victim has not yet been identified pending family notification.

Old Dominion University reported the threat had ended but advised avoiding the scene. Classes and campus operations were cancelled for the remainder of the day. The shooting occurred in a College of Business classroom.
