A Delhi court has acquitted Arvind Kejriwal, the former chief minister of the capital, and 21 others in a lengthy corruption probe. Kejriwal, a prominent opponent of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had accused the ruling party of a "political conspiracy".

Kejriwal, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), spent several months in jail following his arrest in March 2024 on accusations of kickbacks from liquor license allocations. "Truth has won," Kejriwal stated after the verdict, alleging Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were behind the charges.

Kejriwal, 57, began his career as a tax collector before becoming a national anti-corruption figure. His acquittal comes amid ongoing legal challenges faced by several of Modi's political rivals. A bill was introduced in August 2025 to disqualify politicians arrested and detained for 30 days, a move critics labeled an attempt to suppress dissent.
