Italian authorities have banned upcoming concerts by Kanye West and Travis Scott scheduled for July in Reggio Emilia, citing 'public order and safety issues.'

West, who now goes by Ye, was set to headline the Pulse of Gaia festival on July 18 at RCF Arena. Scott was scheduled to perform at the Hellwatt festival the night before. The venue holds approximately 103,000 spectators.

The decision followed requests from the local Jewish community and the consumer rights group Codacons, who cited West's history of antisemitic statements and the potential for protests. Authorities also noted the 'close temporal connection' between the events and the 'real risk of counter-demonstrations.'

The ban comes after Britain denied West entry to the UK, forcing the cancellation of his Wireless Festival headline slot. West was barred over comments and actions including the release of a pro-Nazi song and sale of swastika-branded merchandise.

Scott's ban comes five years after his Astroworld festival tragedy in Houston, where a crowd surge killed 10 people, including a nine-year-old boy. Hundreds were injured, and numerous lawsuits are pending.

Neither artist has commented on the Italian cancellations.
