Pope Leo XIV delivered one of his most passionate appeals yet for an end to global conflict, directly confronting "warmongers" and urging billions to embrace peace. Speaking from St. Peter's Basilica, the American pontiff declared, "Enough of the idolatry of self and money! Enough of the display of power! Enough of war! True strength is shown in serving life."

The 70-year-old leader, known for his measured tones, issued a direct call to global leaders: "Stop! It is time for peace! Sit at the table of dialogue and mediation, not at the table where rearmament is planned and deadly actions are decided!"

Pope Leo also emphasized the responsibility of the "immense multitude" to build a "Kingdom of peace" countered by "friendship and a culture of encounter." He implored people to "believe once again in love, moderation and good politics," describing the Kingdom of God as a bulwark against a "delusion of omnipotence."
