Iran has postponed the state funeral for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran. State television reported the delay was due to "the expected participation of millions of people and the need to provide the proper infrastructure."

The farewell ceremony, originally planned for Wednesday evening, will now be held on a new date to be announced later. Khamenei, 86, was reported killed over the weekend in strikes over Iran. Authorities did not link the postponement to the security situation following missile strikes that have targeted military and government infrastructure since Saturday.
