Iranian state TV reported Saturday that a proposed memorandum of understanding with the United States includes an agreement to release $12 billion in frozen assets. The report cites an unofficial draft, but the White House has dismissed a similar earlier claim as a fabrication.
President Donald Trump on Friday described key elements of a potential agreement, but Iranian sources disputed those claims. Trump insisted 'no money will be exchanged, until further notice,' while Iranian media swiftly refuted that.
The report also said Tehran would continue to manage the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has blockaded since the war began. Trump had said Iran would reopen the strait for unrestricted shipping, a condition the US says is non-negotiable.
