Israel's defense minister has declared plans for a post-war buffer zone inside southern Lebanon. Israeli troops will establish a security zone up to the Litani River, approximately 30 kilometers from the border, and maintain control there even after hostilities with Hezbollah cease.

Minister Yoav Katz stated all houses in Lebanese villages near the Israeli border will be demolished, mirroring tactics used in Gaza. He also said the return of more than 600,000 displaced Lebanese residents south of the Litani River will be prohibited until northern Israel's security is ensured.

Israel launched a ground invasion into southern Lebanon on March 2nd. The Lebanese health ministry reports at least 1,238 deaths in Lebanon since then, including 124 children. Israeli authorities report 10 soldiers and two civilians killed by Hezbollah.

Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun condemned the Israeli plans as "collective punishment against civilians" and part of "suspicious schemes" for territorial expansion.
