The Israeli military has destroyed a significant underground facility used by the militant group Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
A joint statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed the strike targeted a 200-meter-long tunnel in the town of Majdal Zoun. Officials said the site contained hundreds of weapons and launchers. The United States was informed in advance.
The operation occurred just hours after Israel struck Hezbollah militants and a rocket launcher in the Nabatieh area. It also follows a new US-brokered security agreement between Lebanon and Israel, which outlines a phased Israeli withdrawal from parts of southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem rejected the accord, calling it a surrender. He vowed the group would continue armed resistance. Prime Minister Netanyahu stated Israeli forces would remain in an expanded security zone to continue dismantling terrorist infrastructure.
