A Lebanese man has been sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison by a German court for his membership in Hezbollah. Fadel Z, 35, was convicted of aiding and abetting attempted murder and violating EU embargo regulations.
The court in Celle found that Fadel Z procured approximately €1.4 million in materials for Hezbollah's drone program, including over 2,000 motors and 600 propellers. Prosecutors stated he acted as a "foreign operator," purchasing components from Europe, China, and the United States and exporting them to Lebanon. He admitted to the deliveries, often using front companies for purchases and payments.
Two of the engines Fadel Z supplied were used in explosive drones targeting Israel. One drone struck a retirement home in Herzliya on October 11, 2024, though no residents were injured, leading to the attempted murder conviction. Fadel Z has one week to appeal.
