At least 86 people, including healthcare workers, were injured in strikes on Jabal Amel Hospital in southern Lebanon, according to the WHO. The attack caused significant damage to the emergency department and intensive care unit.
Jabal Amel is one of the few hospitals still operating in the region. Two of three hospitals in Tyre district are now damaged, leaving the third overwhelmed with injured patients. Patients face delays of up to 48 hours to reach referral facilities.
Six hospitals have suspended maternity services, and are providing only emergency room care. For pregnant women and newborns, these delays can be fatal. WHO has verified nearly 190 attacks on healthcare in three months, killing 128 healthcare workers.
Some 130,000 displaced people are sheltering in areas with rising infectious disease risks, including acute watery diarrhea and potential cholera. WHO urges a stop to attacks on healthcare and a sustained ceasefire.
