A Mexican man has apologized after a video showed him making a racist slanted-eyes gesture during a World Cup match between South Korea and the Czech Republic in Guadalajara.
South Korean content creator Yoon Su-jin posted the video last Friday. It shows Ulises Fernando Bernal Miramontes, seated behind her, pulling the corners of his eyes and laughing. The pose is widely recognized as disrespectful to East Asians.
The clip, posted by Yoon who has millions of online followers, generated massive backlash and received 65,000 comments.

Reports indicate Bernal was removed from his position as president of the College of Geomatics and Topographic Surveying Engineers of Jalisco. In his public apology, he stated he regretted the situation and understood his responsibility, adding that he has always tried to treat others with respect.
