Iran's state-run media released the first public statement attributed to new Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei. The message follows the assassination of his predecessor, Ali Khamenei, on February 28th, during initial U.S.-Israeli strikes.

The statement was read on state television with a photograph of the new leader, but no audio or video. This format fueled speculation about his condition, with an Iranian official confirming he was injured but "alive and well."

Khamenei's statement acknowledged learning of his appointment on state TV and expressed the difficulty of succeeding his father. He thanked "brave warriors" and emphasized the continued use of blocking the Strait of Hormuz as a war tactic. He also mentioned plans to activate other fronts where the enemy is vulnerable.

The leader extended sympathy to those who lost loved ones or suffered damages, noting his own personal losses. He vowed revenge for martyrs, stating Iran would seek compensation from the enemy, including seizing property if necessary. The statement also addressed regional relations, accusing the U.S. of establishing bases in neighboring countries and warning them to close these facilities.
