Pope Leo XIV has stated that a change in Church doctrine regarding sexuality and marriage is "very unlikely, at least in the near future." Speaking in an interview for the book "Pope Leo XIV - The biography," the Pontiff acknowledged the issue is polarizing within the Church.
He reiterated Pope Francis's message of universal welcome, "Todos, todos," emphasizing that all are invited as children of God and should be met with respect. Pope Leo XIV believes that a change in attitudes should precede any consideration of altering Church teachings.
"Individuals will be welcomed and received," he clarified. "Any priest will hear in confession people of all kinds, with all kinds of difficulties, life situations and choices made. The teaching of the Church will continue to remain as it is and for now I have nothing more to add on this point."
The Pope also touched upon broader global concerns, including the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on the future of work and the potential for widespread inequality if automation is not managed equitably.
