Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a ceasefire with Ukraine for the duration of the Orthodox Easter holidays. The Kremlin stated the truce would begin at 4 PM Moscow time on April 11 and last until the end of April 12, 2026.
This move follows signals from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy indicating Kyiv's openness to a potential Easter truce. Orthodox Easter falls on April 12 this year, according to the Julian calendar used by churches in both nations.
Last year, Putin declared a similar 30-hour ceasefire, though both sides accused each other of violations.
