Poland is planning to ban social media access for children under 15. Education Minister Barbara Nowacka announced that platforms will be held responsible for age verification.

The draft legislation, expected from the ruling Civic Coalition, will impose fines on platforms accessible to younger users. The law could be enacted by early 2027.

"We see the mental health of children and young people, we see a decline in their intellectual competence," Nowacka stated, though penalty amounts for companies are still under discussion.

Several European nations, including Denmark, Greece, France, Spain, and Britain, have considered similar measures, citing potential harm and addiction among minors. Australia also implemented comparable laws.

This move could create friction with major U.S. tech companies like Meta and Elon Musk's X.
