Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez addressed Congress on Wednesday, facing a storm of corruption allegations against his Socialist party (PSOE), his wife Begoña Gómez, and his brother David Sánchez.

He declared: “I never knew of, nor would I have tolerated, any of these practices.” The appearance follows a Supreme Court ruling sentencing former minister José Luis Ábalos to 24 years in the Koldo case. Sánchez insisted the government acted properly on the Plus Ultra airline bailout and defended ex-PM Zapatero, calling the family accusations “unfounded.”

Opposition leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo branded Sánchez the “corrupting political nexus,” citing 15 court cases and the Ábalos conviction. Feijóo called for a motion of no confidence, though it lacks parliamentary support.
