President Donald Trump has called on China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz-effectively blocked by Iran since February 28 amid escalating Middle East conflict.

Multiple commercial vessels have been struck by unknown projectiles in the strait over two weeks; one fatality reported. Trump says the US Navy may escort ships-but no such operation has occurred.

The UK says it’s discussing a ‘viable plan’ with allies but hasn’t made decisions. Germany calls it ‘not our war’. France insists escort missions can only begin after the ‘hottest phase’ ends. China demands immediate cessation of hostilities. South Korea requires parliamentary approval for any naval deployment. Japan says no formal request was received-and cites legal constraints. The EU states there is ‘no appetite’ to expand its naval mission’s mandate.
