The UAE swiftly rejected the claim. Diplomatic adviser Anwar Gargash called it an attempt to 'consecrate a new reality born from a clear military defeat,' labeling the move 'nothing but fragments of dreams.' Media linked to Iran's Revolutionary Guard released footage of a 'punishment' strike on a tanker. BBC Verify identified the vessel as the Liberian-flagged Barakah, struck by unknown projectiles in early May.

The escalation comes as US Central Command boarded an Iran-bound oil tanker, Celestial Sea, suspecting it violated the US blockade. Centcom has redirected 91 ships since April 13.

President Trump postponed a planned military strike on Iran at the request of Gulf leaders, stating 'serious negotiations are now taking place.' Pakistan's military chief is visiting Tehran to mediate. Trump warned he is prepared to resume attacks if no deal is reached.
