Salim Touaibi has been found guilty of first-degree murder and four counts of attempted murder in the 2021 drive-by shooting death of 15-year-old Meriem Boundaoui. Touaibi admitted to being the shooter but claimed he didn't realize anyone was inside the vehicle.

Co-accused Aymane Bouadi, who was in the car, has been acquitted of all charges. The shooting occurred in Montreal’s St-Léonard borough, where Boundaoui, a bystander, was killed. Her death shocked the city and led to calls for stronger anti-gun measures. A new police unit was formed to target gun traffickers in the aftermath.
