Washington - President Donald Trump announced he has requested a delay to his upcoming trip to China due to the ongoing war with Iran, now in its third week.
He emphasized his commitment to remaining in the U.S., stating, "I have to be here, I feel." The trip, originally scheduled for late March, is now expected to be postponed by about a month.
Trump also pressed Chinese leadership to assist in reopening the Strait of Hormuz, warning that disruptions have driven global oil prices higher. He cited China’s reliance on Middle Eastern oil as leverage for cooperation.
Relations between Washington and Beijing remain tense, marked by mutual tariff threats over the past year. China’s foreign ministry confirmed ongoing communication but did not address the request for involvement in the Strait of Hormuz effort.
