BANGKOK - At least eight people are dead and 25 others injured after a train collision near the Airport Rail Link's Makkasan station sparked a fire that engulfed a public bus Saturday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the scene in Ratchathewi district as flames destroyed the bus and nearby vehicles. The crash involved a train, several cars and motorcycles.

Authorities say the collision occurred around 3:40 p.m. local time on Asok-Din Daeng Road. Fire crews have since contained the blaze and are searching for additional victims. The cause remains under investigation.
