In a dramatic turn of events on Monday, President Donald Trump announced that Israeli troops will not advance on Beirut, following calls with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hezbollah.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that Hezbollah agreed to stop attacks in exchange for Israel halting its offensive. He also signaled ongoing peace talks with Tehran, saying negotiations have continued "at a rapid pace."

The announcement came after Iran’s IRGC-linked Tasnim news agency reported Tehran would block the Strait of Hormuz-a threat Trump dismissed, predicting oil prices would drop. Despite Iran's foreign ministry blaming Washington for not restraining Israel, Trump left the door open for diplomacy.

Two Iranian generals warned of "game-changing" defensive operations, and IRGC adviser Mohsen Rezaei said Iran's patience has limits.
