President Donald Trump has told his negotiators not to rush into a deal with Iran, despite reports that an agreement is close.

According to US media, the potential deal includes a 60-day ceasefire extension, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and further talks on Iran's nuclear program. Trump said on Truth Social that negotiations are "proceeding in an orderly and constructive manner," adding: "Both sides must take their time and get it right. There can be no mistakes!"

Iranian media report "one or two" remaining points of disagreement. Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei confirmed progress but cautioned that not all key issues are resolved.

The US and its allies suspect Iran of seeking a nuclear weapon, a charge Tehran denies. The US blockade of Iranian ports remains in place until a deal is signed. Meanwhile, Iran continues to control the Strait of Hormuz, impacting global oil prices.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted "significant but not final" progress, hinting at a possible reopening of the strait. Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, acting as mediator, expressed optimism that a positive outcome is "within reach."
