FIFA reported a 13-fold surge in online abuse during the group stage, with 11% identified as racially motivated. The issue continued into the knockout rounds, where Netherlands players Justin Kluivert, Quinten Timber, and Crysencio Summerville were targeted with racist attacks after a penalty shootout defeat.
