Julian Nagelsmann is out as Germany’s head coach following a painful 2026 FIFA World Cup exit. The team was knocked out by Paraguay on penalties on June 30.
The German Football Association (DFB) effectively encouraged Nagelsmann to resign despite a contract that theoretically ran until Euro 2028. As of July 2, German media reported he no longer had a future with the team.
Attention has immediately turned to Jurgen Klopp. The former Liverpool manager left Anfield in 2024 after winning the Champions League and Premier League. He currently serves as head of global soccer at Red Bull.
On July 1, Klopp addressed the speculation directly, stating he has nothing to say and enjoys his current role. Securing his release remains a complex negotiation.
