President Donald Trump has extended by 10 days the deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, reportedly in response to a formal request from Tehran.

Earlier this week, Trump gave Iran 48 hours to comply or face destruction of its energy infrastructure. He dismissed media reports suggesting desperation for a deal, stating, "I'm the opposite of desperate. I don't care."

US envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed the administration has presented a 15-point action list to Tehran via Pakistani intermediaries, citing "strong signs" Iran is ready to negotiate. Iran, through its Tasnim news agency, said it formally responded with demands including an end to US and Israeli attacks, war reparations, and recognition of its sovereignty over the strategic waterway.

Meanwhile, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid warned that the IDF is stretched beyond capacity due to the multi-front conflict, echoing concerns raised by military chief Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir. Israeli forces are building a forward defensive zone along the Lebanese border, requiring additional combat personnel.

Trump suggested the US might take control of Iran’s oil, likening it to the post-Maduro arrangement in Venezuela, calling it "an option."
