Antony 'closes in on loan move to Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce'

Antony is reportedly pushing for a loan move away from Manchester United as he attempts to revive his career.

The Brazilian winger, 24, has endured a disastrous time at Old Trafford since joining from Ajax for an £86million fee in 2022.

He has played just one minute of Premier League action so far this season and looks to be firmly out of favour under Erik ten Hag.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away throughout the summer, with several clubs having been touted with an interest.

And, according to The Sun, Fenerbahce - who are managed by former United boss Jose Mourinho - have emerged as the frontrunners for Antony.

The report claims Antony has informed United that he wants to leave, with the club receptive to facilitating a loan deal.

There is also said to be interest in the winger from his former club Ajax, along with teams in Spain, France and Saudi Arabia.

Yet, Fenerbahce are viewed as the favourites given their transfer window is open until this Friday.

Antony - who is under contract until 2027 - is believed to be on around £200,000-a-week at Old Trafford, with these wages likely to mean a permanent departure will have to wait until next summer.

Along with the Mourinho angle, a move to Fenerbahce adds further intrigue given he would link-up with his former United team-mate Fred in Istanbul.

The Red Devils are also set to face the Turkish giants in the Europa League group stage in October.

But things just haven't worked out for Antony, who has netted five Premier League goals

In total, Antony - who was signed at the behest of Ten Hag after their time together at Ajax - has scored 11 goals in 83 games for United, although just five of those have come in the Premier League.

The winger is behind Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo in the pecking order and a move to Turkey could be the perfect platform for the 16-cap Brazil international to revitalise his career.
