Cameron Norrie has withdrawn from the US Open having announced that he has not fully recovered from the forearm injury that forced him to pull out of the men's singles event at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
The British No 2 stated he planned to take some time out to 'rest and recharge', having now withdrawn from the Olympics.
Norrie was due to take on Netherlands' Tallon Griekspoor in the first round, with Petros Tsitsipas - the younger brother of Stefanos Tsitsipas - taking his place.
He would later withdraw from the men's singles event at the Canadian Open, having been due to face Marcos Giron in Montreal.
In a statement on his Instagram, the British tennis star wrote on Friday: 'I have been working hard to get my body to full health - unfortunately my forearm injury is not recovering as soon as I would have hoped.
Norrie has been struggling with the injury since the Paris Olympics, with the British star having also pulled out of the Canadian Open
The LTA delivered their well wishes to Norrie on X (formerly Twitter) writing: 'Hope to see you back on court soon @cam_norrie'
'Therefore I will not be able to compete in this year’s US Open. I’ll take some rest and recharge. Can’t wait to get back to competing like a dog.'
The Lawn Tennis Association posted his message on X (formerly Twitter), writing: 'Hope to see you back on court soon @cam_norrie.'
Murray and Norrie have both been troubled with injuries this year, with Murray notably rupturing an ankle ligament in March that sidelined him for two months - Murray had also struggled with a back issue during this year's tournament at Queen's.
It comes after Andy Murray bowed out of professional tennis at the Paris Games, having announced ahead of the Olympics that this would be his final tournament.

Norrie, who won once on the ATP Tour in 2023, is yet to add to his haul of five titles on the men's tennis circuit this season.
He looked primed to defend his title at the ATP500 in Rio earlier this year but was knocked out at the semi-finals by Mariano Navone.
Earlier this summer, he would reach the round of 32 in the men's singles at Wimbledon, beating fellow Brit Draper in the round of 64, before being bested by Alexander Zverev in three sets.
