How things stand
By Robert Summerscales
Chelsea and Newcastle started the day 7th and 12th respectively in the Premier League table.
The Blues could end the weekend in the top four if they win today.
However, a win for the Magpies would see Eddie Howe's men leapfrog their opponents.
History favours the Blues
By Robert Summerscales
Today's game will be the 59th Premier League meeting between Chelsea and Newcastle.
The Blues have won 30 of the first 58, drawing 13 and losing 15.
Chelsea have dominated this fixture even more at Stamford Bridge, with Newcastle winning on just one of their last 20 trips to SW6.
Remarkably, Newcastle have never won a penalty against Chelsea in a Premier League game.
Good afternoon

Hello again. Welcome back for more Premier League drama.
Yesterday's six games delivered 20 goals, one red card and plenty of VAR interference.
But we are expecting even more excitement from today's four fixtures.
Crystal Palace are hosting Tottenham at 2pm, while Man United are away at West Ham at the same time.
Later on (at 4.30pm), Arsenal and Liverpool will go head to head in north London.
But our focus here will be on Chelsea vs Newcastle, which is also due to start at 2pm.
The sky above Stamford Bridge is pretty clear right now but it is expected to get more cloudy as the day goes on. Hopefully, it might even rain goals!
