Slot: 'Important not to get the crowd going'
Arne Slot, Liverpool boss, speaking on TNT Sports:
We do a lot of things well but if we want to compete with tougher opponents we need to find another gear. I can come up with so many things that we can improve, which is normal.
We have played a lot of games, so it's a good moment for Curtis to start because he is not going on international duty. Dom [Szoboszlai] is putting in so much effort in his pressing, it's good for us to have more than three midfielders.
On the Selhurst Park atmosphere:
Every away game everywhere around the world is difficult. If they get a half chance, supporters will bring energy to the game - you feel that. It's important not to get the crowd going. We need to force them to make mistakes and it helps to not let the crowd be as loud as they can be.
'Slot has listened to the fans'
By Lewis Steele At Selhurst Park
Arne Slot has listened to the fans and made four changes. Some supporters were worried about the lack of rotation so he has answered their call by leaving out Darwin Nunez, Andy Robertson, Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz.
That sees Curtis Jones and Kostas Tsimikas make rare league starts, while Diogo Jota returns and Cody Gakpo gets his chance. Sub keeper Caoimhin Kelleher is not on the bench and it is believed he is ill. No sign of Federico Chiesa, either, as the Italian is still nursing an injury.
Liverpool's love of Selhurst
By Harry Bamforth
It's fair to say, Liverpool love it at Selhurst Park.
In my head, I have always seen it as a bogey ground for the Reds, they always seem to struggle there in my memory.
This statistic says otherwise...
Liverpool have won eight of their last nine visits to Selhurst Park in the Premier League. They drew the other in 2022-23.
This record tells me that this afternoon should go only one way, but runs have to come to an end at some point.
Will the streak continue?
Jones returns
By Harry Bamforth
It's a big day for this man, isn't it?
Liverpool's midfield has been pretty much set in stone all season with Dominik Szoboszlai in centre-attacking midfield.
Well, today Arne Slot has decided to entrust Curtis Jones with that role.
It's his first Premier League start under the Dutchman and he will be desperate to impress.
After his performance in the cup against West Ham two weeks ago, his confidence will certainly be high.
Can he deliver again?

Arne Slot is switching things up!

We have our answer!
Trevoh Chalobah comes straight into the Crystal Palace starting 11 to make his debut.
The defender comes in as one of two changes to the side that lost against Liverpool's Merseyside rivals Everton last weekend.
Ismaila Sarr returns to the line-up in place of Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Trevoh's time?
By Harry Bamforth
Crystal Palace fans are yet to see Trevoh Chalobah pull on their colours after signing in the summer on loan.
That may change today, though.
The defender has recovered from injury to make today's matchday squad, and we could see him get his first minutes at Selhurst Park.
Will he start, or will he be on the bench?
You only have to wait a few more minutes to find out the answer.
Leaders in London
By Harry Bamforth
What a season Liverpool are having so far, eh?
When Arne Slot took control of the reins at Anfield, nobody knew what to expect from this Liverpool side.
Well, six games in and we have our answer.
The Reds sit top of the league and have won five of their opening six matches, including all three on the road.
Today they face a Crystal palace side who are yet to pick up three points this season. They have been extremely underwhelming.
So, on paper, surely Liverpool will win?
Football isn't played on paper, though. Palace have already shown this year that they know how to stifle the Reds.
It's going to be interesting to see how this one plays out...
Sunny Selhurst calling
By Harry Bamforth
Oh, what a beautiful day!
I thought the time of sunny lunchtime kick-offs were behind us after the weather change we have endured this week.
But no, Selhurst Park is bathed in sunshine as Crystal Palace prepare to host Premier League leaders Liverpool.
When these two sides meet it is very rarely a snooze-fest (cue a 0-0 draw). Palace and the Reds have had some historic battles over the years.
Let's hope we witness another one today, it would be the perfect way to start off a stacked weekend of footie.
Right then, I think we should get this show on the road, don't you?
