Mainoo: 'All the lads know how big the game is'
Man United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, who scored in a 2-2 draw with Liverpool last season, speaking to Sky Sports:
It's huge. We all know how big it is growing up in Manchester. All the lads know how big the game is and hopefully take that mentality into the game. [We are] going for the win. If I get a goal that would be the cherry on top. But just the win would be good for me.'
Former United star Alan Smith previews today's game
Former Manchester United striker/midfielder Alan Smith has shared his pre-game thoughts with Mail Sport...
On what he has made of Arne Slot's start to Premier League life:
They look very comfortable, very composed. They knew Ipswich would throw everything at them, and it was a tricky game to be honest with you with them having been promoted and it being a fanfare event. I thought Liverpool looked good, in the second half especially, and they could have scored 5 or 6.
On whether United would take a point today:
I would say no. I think a point would be a good result don’t get me wrong, but I don’t think United will want to take just a point at Old Trafford against Liverpool. Regardless of any form, this is the game of all games and anything can happen, as we saw in the semi final of the cup when Diallo scores in the last seconds. Even with their backs to the walls, fans up in arms.
His thoughts on United's summer signings (Yoro, De Ligt, Zirkzee, Mazraoui):
It’s interesting with the Dutch influence on who has been brought in, obviously Ruud is there now as well, and I think it will be a different dynamic but I understand why the manager has brought them in; people that he will trust. I think the kid Zirkzee looks quite exciting. I don’t think people get excited about signing defenders, but I think they’ll probably be the most important ones!
On his expectations for United this season:
I feel that the league will be very similar in terms of positions, but I know that United will be thinking top four as a minimum. Personally, I don’t really like the top four analogy because when you retire and you look back you don’t really care if you didn’t win anything, but from a club point of view and building, it would be a huge getting back into the Champions League.
Smith was speaking exclusively to the Mail Online via Net Bet's home of sports betting.
Half-time in the early games
Newcastle lead Tottenham 1-0, while Chelsea are ahead by the same score against Crystal Palace by the same score in west London.
Nicolas Jackson got the Chelsea goal, thanks to Cole Palmer's fourth assist in two games.
Meanwhile, a Harvey Barnes strike is what currently separates the Magpies from Ange Postecoglou's Spurs.

STAT PACK: Man United vs Liverpool
Here is your latest Squakwa stat pack.
As you can see, Mo Salah has scored more goals at Old Trafford than any other non-United player in Premier League history.
It is also highlighted just how superior Liverpool were compared to United in the Premier League last season, with the Anfield outfit 46 goals better off over the full campaign.
Despite this, Liverpool did not beat United once last season despite playing them three times in all competitions.
I guess form really does go out of the window for these games!
