Crystal Palace want Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah to replace Marc Guehi

Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is on the shortlist of defenders Crystal Palace are considering to replace England international Marc Guehi.

Chalobah can leave Stamford Bridge this summer and his availability has alerted Palace as they plan for the event of Guehi leaving.

The Chelsea defender is among a number of options Palace are considering, Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix among those monitored.

A move to Palace for Chalobah, who came through the academy at Chelsea, would enable the versatile defender to stay in London.

Guehi’s future will likely determine whether Palace move for a centre-back before the summer transfer deadline.

Progress has been made on his protracted move to St James’ Park amid hope a breakthrough can be found by the start of next week.

Having already lost Michael Olise to Bayern Munich, Palace are fighting to keep their best players ahead of the new season.

In addition to Guehi’s uncertain future, Eberechi Eze has interest from a number of the Premier League’s top teams - with Tottenham and Manchester City among the clubs interested.

Palace want to keep both Eze and Guehi but understand they maybe powerless to keep the duo.

Guehi will enter the final year of his deal next summer, opening up a real possibility of him leaving for nothing in 2026 - a scenario they Palace want to avoid.

Eze, meanwhile, has an initial £60m release clause in his deal that can be activated. That fee could rise to as much as £68m based on bonuses.

Palace want a straight cash deal for Eze, and are unlikely to consider an offer that includes a player coming in the opposite direction.
