Harry Kane reveals he played golf with Tiger Woods on Bahamas holiday

Harry Kane joined Tiger Woods for several star-studded rounds of golf while on a holiday to the Bahamas with his wife and even beat the legendary American on the very first hole, the England striker has claimed.

In 2017, the Tottenham man was coming off the back of his finest goalscoring season to date after striking 35 times in 38 matches for the north London side. He would later go on to bag 280 goals for the club before making an £80million switch to Bayern Munich in 2023.

To celebrate another phenomenal campaign the then 23-year-old jetted off to sunny Bahamas for a romantic getaway with his wife Kate which promised sun, sand and relaxation.

But the Englishman's penchance for hitting the golf links is well-documented with Kane reportedly boasting an impressive handicap of 3.7 and regularly appearing in celebrity tournaments.

It turns out you cannot keep Spurs' record scorer off the course for long and when he had a chance encounter with Woods out in the Caribbean he could not resist getting his clubs out, the Rick Shiels Golf Show reports.

Kane said: 'I was out in the Bahamas and didn't know he was there - where we go, you're on buggies everywhere. So I'm travelling on a buggy and was driving past a golf pro I knew there and he was like, "Oh H, how you doing?," just catching up, I hadn't seen him in a while.

'He went, "Oh, by the way, I'm playing with Tiger this afternoon. You want to play?"

'It was like, "Yeah! Just give me a shout", because the way he said it was just like a throwaway. I didn't want to seem over keen, I just said, "Give me a text when you're playing."

'Anyway, I went to the gym, got on with my day, I was with my wife, we had lunch with some friends, we went to their house and I had no signal in the house.

'So I'm sitting there at lunch thinking, "I hope he's not messaging me," after a couple hours of lunch, I'm getting out and walking to our house, I get three or four text messages coming through at once. It's the golf pro saying, "Tiger said come play the back nine with us," and this was like an hour ago.

'I'm flustered, I'm nervous, I'm excited, I've not warmed up, just driven to the course, I'm just thinking, "Hit this ball in the air." '

Kane managed to cope under the pressure, however, and even managed to make a birdie on the opening hole, pipping the 15-time Major winner.

The England captain joked: 'I'm thinking he thinks I'm a proper golfer now.'

Kane gelled so well with Woods later that evening that the then 41-year-old asked him to play a full 18 holes the next day,

'I was only in the Bahamas for four days,' the footballing icon said. 'I just had to say [to my wife], "Sorry Kate, Tiger trumps anything here".'

Woods has won 15 Major titles in a glittering career and he dominated golf for over a decade

Two years later, Woods pulled off an emotional win in the 2019 Masters - 11 years on from his previous Major title in the 2008 US Open.

He continues to appear at the world's biggest tournaments but continues to battle with persistent injury problems.
