Kane salutes 'inspirational' Ronaldo ahead of 100th England cap

Harry Kane already has his sights set on his next England ton and he is using Cristiano Ronaldo as motivation, on the eve of earning his 100th cap for the Three Lions.

The Bayern Munich star will become only the 10th men's footballer to reach a century of appearances for England when he leads the side against Finland at Wembley.

Kane has already left his mark in the nation's history books after becoming England's all-time top scorer last March - a tally that he has increased by 12 in the intervening 18 months.

But speaking ahead of the Nations League clash, he insisted that he has no plans of slowing down and cited 39-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo, who took his career goalscoring tally beyond 900 this week, as an inspiration.

'I feel in really good shape both physically and mentally at a peak in my career,' he said. 'When you watch other players, like Ronaldo scoring his 901st goal yesterday and seeing him compete at 39-years-old, that inspires me to play for as long as possible.

Harry Kane insisted he has no desire to slow down as he approaches his 100th cap for England

'I love this game, I love representing England more than anything and I don't want it to end anytime soon. For me now it's about continuing to improve and be consistent both in an England shirt and at club level and that's what I'll always do.

'Who knows how many caps or goals I can get but I'm hungry for more. I'm determined to keep pushing the boundaries.'

Kane will receive a commemorative gold cap for the occasion in the capital, which he will match with a special pair of gold boots.

The former Tottenham ace debuted the flashy footwear during training at St George's Park on Monday afternoon. Kane will be looking to extend his total at the top of the Three Lions' scoring charts after failing to net in England's 2-0 win over Ireland on Saturday.

His 100th appearance comes nine years after making his debut against Lithuania in March 2015.

The Wembley clash will also be the first time the home faithful will get the chance to see interim boss Lee Carsley in the dugout.

The 50-year-old is in the driving seat to be named as Gareth Southgate's permanent successor, barring a shock result in England's Nations League slate.

Carsley revealed that he will make up to three changes to the side that cruised to victory in Dublin. Noni Madueke and Tino Livramento will be hoping to get their first taste of action for the senior side.
