Man United fans CONVINCED they've unearthed major transfer hint

Manchester United fans believe they have unearthed a major transfer hint on the club's website as they continue their search for midfielder reinforcements.

The Red Devils have made two additions this summer with the signings of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro but the need for a player in the middle of the park persists.

The club have been linked with a host of names, most recently, PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte, though interest in him appears to have waned with the club unwilling to meet the French side's asking price.

According to the Mirror, new sporting director Dan Ashworth has drawn up a five-man shortlist which includes Monaco's Youssouf Fofana, Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi, Palmeiras' Richard Rios and Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat.

And some are now convinced that the last name on that list may be the player who signs, as he is included on the 'squad' page on the club's website in United's new home kit.

Erik ten Hag is in the hunt for a new midfielder this summer ahead of the new Premier League campaign

Sofyan Amrabat, who spent last season on loan at the club, remains on the Red Devils' website as a member of the squad

The Moroccan was largely underwhelming in his season at Old Trafford, though he did contribute to United's FA Cup win

Amrabat spent last season on loan at Old Trafford last term but his spell was largely underwhelming as he started only 15 of his 30 appearances.

One United fan on X said: 'I checked the #MUFC Official app few mins ago, Sofyan Amrabat who is currently not a United player(loan contract expired June 30th) is still on our website.

'This could only make sense with Ugarte deal potentially Off now — I expect Amrabat to be a United player before weekend.'

Another said: 'It feels like Amrabat is getting retained... He's still on the club website as our player.' While a third commented in a similar vein: 'United still list Amrabat as a first team player on their website....'

Erik ten Hag's side forked out £8.5million to secure his services from Fiorentina for 12 months but there has been no decision made on whether to activate his £21.4m purchase option.

Additionally, Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade claimed in June that the Moroccan international wishes to remain in England next term.

'I would keep him in Florence but it doesn't seem like what he has in mind,' he said. 'I think he wants to stay in the Premier League but we haven't heard from anyone yet since.'

United have reportedly cooled their interest in PSG and Uruguay midfielder Manuel Ugarte due to his asking price

As well as the four midfielders mentioned above, according to The Athletic, United have reached out to Burnley star Sander Berge's representatives, over a potential move.

Plans to sign Zubimendi however, took a hit with reports that Liverpool have turned their attention to the 25-year-old. A deal is yet to be agreed but the Reds look in pole position to snap him up this summer.
