Man United 'make inquiries about £34m-rated Nottingham Forest star'

The Brazilian has been one of the side's standout performers since his arrival last year. The combative midfielder featured 29 times in the Premier League for Nuno Espirito Santo's team last term as they staved off the threat of relegation.

This form has now seen the 23-year-old become of interest to at least two giants of European football, according to TNT Sports. In addition to the Red Devils, Serie A outfit AC Milan are also reportedly eyeing the Forest star.

The outlet claim that Erik ten Hag's side would have to stump up around £34million to secure his services this summer. And Forest would not be opposed to the sale of the player they purchased from Palmeiras for just £18m in January 2023.

United have been active in the summer window, yet a desire to bolster their midfield remains. The club have completed the signings of defenders Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, while forward Joshua Zirkzee has also walked through the doors at Old Trafford.

Danilo has proved to be a key player for Nottingham Forest since his arrival during the January transfer window in 2023

The club have been linked with a host of midfield stars. High profile names including PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte were considered earlier this month.

Last week, the Mirror claimed that new sporting director Dan Ashworth had drawn up a five-man shortlist which included Monaco's Youssouf Fofana, Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi, Palmeiras' Richard Rios, Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat and Sander Berge of Burnley.

Securing deals for the Fofana and Zubimendi look near impossible a week on, with the Frenchman closing in a move to Milan, while Zubimendi opted to reject interest from Liverpool to remain at his boyhood club.

United open the top-flight campaign on Friday night when they welcome Fulham to Old Trafford. Although, fans will not have been buoyed by the manager's admission that his players are 'not ready' for the clash with the Cottagers.

'The team is not ready but the league starts,' he told reporters on Thursday. 'There are more managers who definitely have this problem but we have to make a start.

'We can’t hide from it. We can’t run away from it. We have to deal with it.'
