Manuel Ugarte is due in England today for his medical ahead of his transfer to Manchester United from Paris St Germain.
The clubs agreed on a fee last night after United’s Jason Wilcox headed to Paris to finalise negotiations. Wilcox was joined in Paris by Matt Hargreaves director of player negotiations.
The deal is worth £42m plus a further £8.4m in add ons for the Uruguay international.
United were able to make their move finally as Scott McTominay closed on a £26m move to Napoli and Hannibal Mejbri joined Burnley in a deal worth up to £9.5m.
McTominay is expected to travel to Italy today as he finalises his exit settlement with United while Mejbri underwent part of his medical last night.
Manuel Ugarte is set to undergo a medical ahead of a move to Manchester United
Ugarte has not featured in either of PSG's first two games of the new Ligue 1 season, having made it clear that he wants to join United.
The midfielder would become Erik ten Hag's fifth signing of the summer transfer window.
The Dutchman has brought in Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, and Noussair Mazraoui, so far.
Following news breaking of Ugarte's inbound medical at United, the midfielder himself took to social media app X.
The Uruguayan kept his post short but sweet as he tweeted the eyes emoji as his move to the Premier League edges closer.
Ugarte featured in 37 games for the French heavyweights last season as the club won Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France.
He had earlier represented Sporting 85 times over a two-year spell, having started his Portuguese club career playing for Famalicao.
Ugarte has also been capped 22 times at senior international level for Uruguay.
The midfielder will come into the club while McTominay heads for the exit door after spending his entire club career to date at Old Trafford, having first become involved with the United youth system aged just five.
McTominay's last appearance for United came on Saturday in a 2-1 defeat at Brighton.
