Mason Greenwood 'attracts interest from TWO European giants'

Mason Greenwood has reportedly garnered big-money interest from two European giants on the heels of his move to Marseille at the start of the season, according to reports.

The former Manchester United academy prospect has made a fast start to life in Ligue 1 after joining the club at the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign in a permanent deal.

The 22-year-old had spent the previous season on loan at Spanish side Getafe after it was mutually agreed that Greenwood wouldpart ways with United following their internal investigation into his conduct in the wake of his 2022 arrest.

Greenwood was arrested in January of that year for allegations of attempted rape, assault, and coercive behaviour, but the charges were later dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service following the withdrawal of key witnesses.

The forward's move to Marseille was mired in controversy, withthe city's mayor Benoit Payan among those to publicly oppose his signing ahead of the deal going ahead.

The player's form has caught the eye of a number of potential suitors, as per the Sun, with Barcelona set to join the two-horse race for Greenwood's signature.

The Catalan side are thought to be keen to prioritise bringing Greenwood to the Camp Nouin a bid to boost their attacking ranks ahead of the 2025-26 season, and are said to be willing to pay up to £60million to lure him back to Spain.

But Hansi Flick and Co could face stiff opposition from a club closer to home, with a similarly high pedigree in the form of Paris Saint-Germain.

The serial champions are believed to have sent scouts to watch Greenwood play on the French Riviera, but will get a closer look at him when the two teams meet at the end of the month at the Orange Velodrome.

Marseille's league rivals could yet have the edge on the LaLiga big beasts, in part due to their location, with Greenwood reportedly interested in staying on French soil should he move on in the summer.

A source told the publication that the forward 'loves France' having received a favourable welcome on the south coast.

Should Greenwood take the decision to move up after a single season in Marseille, it would likely come as a bitter blow to his manager.

Mail Sport revealed last month that signing Greenwood had been at the fore of De Zerbi's mind when he himself moved to the club over the summer.

The former Brighton boss is said to have discussed the player in one of his first conversations with the Marseille hierarchy, but quickly found his new club on board with his potential transfer.
