Revealed: Beckham will join Brady and McElhenney for League One clash

Rob McElhenney has revealed that David Beckham will attend the clash between Birmingham and Wrexham on Monday night.

Although the fixture is in League One, it is expected that there some very famous faces will be present at St Andrew's.

Wrexham co-owner McElhenney is flying directly to the game from the Emmys, while former NFL star Tom Brady is a minority owner in Birmingham and will also be in attendance.

McElhenney said: 'Directly after the Emmys I'm hopping on a plane and going out to Birmingham, England, to watch Wrexham play Tom Brady's team, Birmingham City.

'We're not legally allowed to bet on the games but we have fun, we have social media and whatnot. I'll be joining him and I believe Mr David Beckham will be there as well - we should have a good time.'

Wrexham, who were promoted from League Two last season, are currently top of League One having taken 13 points from their first five games.

Birmingham, meanwhile, are in sixth place with 10 points from four matches.

Beckham has struck up a friendship with Brady, with the pair having been seen together at the game between Inter Miami and Cincinnati in August.

The game between Birmingham and Wrexham is likely to attract large viewing figures both in England at the USA.

Wrexham have enjoyed a superb rise under the co-ownership of McElhenney and fellow actor Ryan Reynolds, with their takeover having been approved in 2021.

Having gone from the National League to League One in two seasons, Wrexham are targeting progression to the Premier League eventually.

There are similar aims for Birmingham, who have been out of the Premier League for 13 years.
