Should Sir Alex Ferguson stay away from the Man United dressing room?

Sir Alex Ferguson's multi-million pound ambassadorial role has been ended by Manchester United's minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe as part of a cost-cutting drive.

Mail Sport revealed on Tuesday that the legendary Man United boss - who led the club to 38 trophies in 26 years - and the football board have also been told not to enter the dressing room in a break with club tradition.

The controversial move has been discussed on this week's latest installment of Mail Sport's podcast.

Premier League winner Chris Sutton told co-host Ian Ladyman he believes there is a 'time and a place' for ex-players and managers to enter the dressing room.

He suggested that the manager and players should be allowed to focus on the task at hand before matches, suggesting it was 'unhelpful' for others to be 'sticking their head around the door'.

Sutton revealed former Blackburn owner Jack Walker used to come into the dressing room before and after matches.

He said Walker would only enter to offer the team good luck and he was loved by the players for it.
