Tottenham in advanced talks with Bournemouth over Dominic Solanke

Tottenham are in advanced talks with Bournemouth over Dominic Solanke with the striker keen to seal the big-money move, Mail Sport understands.

According to The Athletic, Solanke has already agreed personal terms with Spurs ahead of a club-record deal for the Cherries.

The 26-year-old is contracted at Vitality Stadium until 2029 but a hefty release clause worth £65million can be triggered by a number of clubs.

Spurs have been keen to strengthen in the No 9 position this summer and Solanke, who played for Liverpool between 2017 and 2019, emerged as a prime target.

He scored 19 goals in the Premier League last season, his best return in the top-flight, and helped push Bournemouth to an impressive 12th-placed finish.

Liverpool hold a 20 per cent sell-on clause after Solanke left to join Bournemouth for an undisclosed fee and could receive as much as £9m.

The frontman's expensive release clause had initially proven a stumbling block for potential suitors but Solanke remained high on Ange Postecoglou's wish list.

Indeed, Mail Sport reported Spurs had stepped up their interest this week.

His tally of 21 goals in all competitions last year saw him above Spurs forwards Son Heung-min, who scored 17, and Richarlison, who found the net 11 times.

Bournemouth are set to sell their talisman reluctantly but Solanke, who narrowly missed out on England's Euro 2024 squad, is set to take the next step in his career.

Solanke began his career at Chelsea, who have also been credited with an interest this summer, before moving to Anfield in 2017 on a free transfer.

Spurs have signed two players in this window with young midfielders Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall joining from Leeds and Djurgarden respectively.

The incoming Solanke would hand Postecoglou his first natural No 9 since Harry Kane departed for Bayern Munich in a sensational £100m move last summer.
