Why Bournemouth vs Chelsea has been given bizarre time on Saturday

Since his unveiling a little over a week ago, Chelsea fans have been eager to see the 24-year-old in action.

However their journey down south has been given a late unusual kick-off time, which will not be ideal for The Blues travelling support who are hoping to get a glimpse of the former Borussia Dortmund winger.

So what time is kick-off for Bournemouth vs Chelsea and why was the game moved from its traditional 3pm slot?

Bournemouth vs Chelsea has been given a bizarre night-time kick-off slot

There has been a major change to the kick-off time for the Premier League tie between The Cherries and The Blues.

Instead of the game getting underway at its original time of 3pm, the game will kick-off five hours later at 8pm.

Traditionally most games are supposed to be played at 3pm, however some of them are moved for tv rights, which is the case here.

Because no football is allowed to be broadcast live in the UK between 2:45pm and 5:15pm, the game between the two clubs was changed to 8pm since it was selected by Sky Sports to be broadcast live.

The reason it wasn't selected for Sky's 5:30pm broadcast slot on Saturday is because they are also showing Aston Villa vs Everton and they have chosen that clash for the earlier slot.

Meaning bournemouth vs Chelsea's fixture has been postponed until later in the evening till 8pm, so the Broadcaster can show both their games without any overlap.

As mentioned the game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League, with coverage beginning 15 minutes earlier than kick-off at 7:45pm.

Here at Mail Sport we will also be providing a live blog of Bournemouth vs Chelsea.
