Johnstone out through injury
So, now we know why there is no Sam Johnstone.
Gary O'Neil has confirmed that the goalkeeper picked up an injury during the international break.
It has given Jose Sa a chance to prove e why he should be number one once more.
Will he take it?
Game faces on
By Harry Bamforth
Rayan Ait-Nouri looks like he means business.
I mean, he is going to have a very busy day ahead of him with Jeremy Doku running at him, so he will need to be focused.
Meanwhile, Jose Sa looks happy to be back in the fold, and so he should.
Always nice to see players in high spirits.
Shearer: 'Wolves under pressure'
By Harry Bamforth
Alan Shearer, former Newcastle striker, speaking to Betfair:
Wolves are under huge pressure after a poor start to the season. This is not the fixture you want to see when you are desperate for your first win of the season. I can’t see them taking anything from the game - City will get the three points.
You have to look at the bigger picture for Gary O’Neil. If teams are showing promise and being unlucky, then that’s one thing, but if you look at a team and they’ve got no pattern, no understanding or confidence, then you must judge that.
However, with what he did at Wolves last season, I hope he has got a little bit of time on his side and gets the chance to pull Wolves out of trouble.
Back-to-back?
By Harry Bamforth
Could Wolves stun Manchester City again?
I mean, if they manage to beat Pep Guardiola's side, I will be sat in my chair open-mouthed - speechless.
Put it this way, not many people are backing them.
If they do get the three points, it will be the first time they have won consecutive home league games against City since 1996.
It's been a while, eh?
O'Neil: 'I have 100% faith in myself'
By Harry Bamforth
Gary O'Neil, Wolves boss, speaking on Friday:
We sit here seven games in with one point. If you don't look into the depths of how and why it looks like a disaster. But, if you do take the time to look into the situation and the fixtures you will easily see there is enough there to have a real clear view we can turn this around.
I have 100 per cent faith in myself and the playing group to show everyone we can compete at the level. Really confident and really comfortable I can help the group in this moment and turn things around.
Desperate for points
By Harry Bamforth
Wolves are in dire need of some points, they really are.
They are yet to win in the Premier League this season have lost six of their opening seven games.
Gary O'Neil's side have been handed some tonkings too, they have the worst defence in the league having conceded 21 goals already.
They can't keep going in that vain or the Championship will be at the doorstep sooner rather than later.
But, I'm not sure they will expecting to get a win today against this juggernaut of a Manchester City side.
Wolves fans, would you be happy with a draw?
'Wolves return to back three'
By Tom Collomosse At Molineux Stadium
Looks like a return to a back three for Wolves, with Santiago Bueno in as one of two changes from the Brentford debacle. In the end, most Wolves managers post-Nuno give into gravity and go with a back three. Jose Sa returns in goal, with Sam Johnstone not on the bench.
City chasing history
By Harry Bamforth
We've heard this before.
Manchester City chase history every week it seems, I feel like I am always writing subheadings like this one.
They are currently 30 Premier League matches unbeaten - I know, pretty crazy, right?
If they win today, they will set a club record for the most consecutive league matches without defeat.
Only six Premier League sides have managed to go on a run of over 30 games.
It would be one hell of a feat.
'O'Neil still smarting'
By Tom Collomosse At Molineux Stadium
Gary O’Neil still smarting about Wolves’ 5-3 defeat at Bournemouth before the international break. ‘One of the worst performances I’ve seen from my team,’ he writes in the programme. ‘What happened was unacceptable. I understand the scrutiny and disappointment. We were absolutely furious in the days following the game.’
Man City Team News - Foden BENCHED
By Harry Bamforth
We have our answer...
Phil Foden has to settle for the bench as Pep Guardiola opts for Ilkay Gundogan and Mateo Kovacic as the midfield two.
Not bad, eh?
Savinho is also back in to start after being benched in the win against Fulham.
Wolves Team News - Sa RETURNS
By Harry Bamforth
Jose Sa is back in to the fold.
The Portuguese keeper has restored his place back between the sticks for Wolves with Sam Johnstone not even making the squad.
Sa is one of two changes from the side that were thumped by Brentford before the international break.
Santi Bueno lines up at the heart of defence.
'Walker not with squad'
By Jack Gaughan At Molineux Stadium
While there is no Kevin De Bruyne again for Man City but there is good news for supporters: he trained on Friday so should be reintroduced over the coming week. But Wolves has come too soon. The other news is that Kyle Walker isn't with the squad either.
Man City's midfield conundrum
By Harry Bamforth
I wonder what midfield Pep Guardiola is going to pick today?
Honestly, I'd find it hard to tell you with the injuries they have stacking up there.
Guardiola confirmed that Kevin de Bruyne will not be ready to face Wolves today, which is a major blow for the champions.
And with Rodri out for the season, the middle of the park is becoming a problem for City.
So, will it be Mateo Kovacic with Phil Foden? Or will Matheus Nunes start against his former side?
We will find out in a few moments.
About yesterday...
By Harry Bamforth
Oh boy were we treated to a cracking day of football yesterday.
We had all been desperate for the return of the Premier League during the international break and it returned with a bang.
The main talking point has to be Arsenal's loss away at Bournemouth, not many people saw that one coming, did they?
Well, I certainly didn't.
There were five red cards - a record on a Saturday in the league - 21 goals, comebacks, last-minute winners, and bags more drama.
Here are the results in full:
- Tottenham 4-1 West Ham
- Fulham 1-3 Aston Villa
- Ipswich 0-2 Everton
- Manchester United 2-1 Brentford
- Newcastle 0-1 Brighton
- Southampton 2-3 Leicester
- Bournemouth 2-0 Arsenal
City aim for revenge
By Harry Bamforth
The last time Manchester City rocked up at Molineux, things did not quite go to plan.
They only lost three matches on their way to a fourth consecutive title, and this very fixture was one of them.
So, Pep Guardiola knows just how hard matches away at Wolves can be.
Today, he will be looking for revenge.
I mean, it's not often his City team get done over like they did here last term, he will almost certainly want to put it right.
However, this Wolves side is so desperate for points that they will fight for every last ball on that pitch.
It's such an enticing affair, I can't wait.
Can City capitalise?
By Harry Bamforth
Are you all ready for more action?
I am only just about recovering from yesterday's drama-filled afternoon of action, it was breathless.
Now we are back again, though, and Manchester City will be hoping to capitalise on Arsenal's slip-up against Bournemouth.
They face a Wolves side who came into the weekend at the foot of the table with just one point.
It should be an easy game for City then, right?
Well, that's not how football works as the Cherries proved yesterday, Gary O'Neil's side won't just roll over today.
It's go the potential of being a cracking match in the West Midlands and to say I am excited is an understatement.
So, with that being said, let's get this show on the road.
