Zorin OS 17.2 is now available for download, bringing users of the Ubuntu-based Linux distribution a welcome set of improvements and updates.
The latest major release in the Zorin OS 17 series, which is based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, is described by the Zorin team as being the “most capable, customisable, and compatible version yet”.
Exciting, so what’s changed?
Well, Zorin OS 17.2 adds new options to the Zorin Appearance app.
This one-stop personalisation tool now lets users change their cursor theme, and install third-party themes by following a linked guide which, interestingly, deals how to restyle gtk4/libadwaita stylesheets by way of “an exclusive patch to the interface library in Zorin OS 17.”
Sticking with Zorin Appearance, there is a new Windows section surfacing controls to set how application windows behave, e.g., default placement, titlebars, moving focus, etc; and an option to disable/enable Overlay Scrollbars was added to the Interface panel.
Zorin OS 17.2 also offers:
- LibreOffice 24.8
- Assorted app updates
- Ubuntu HWE stack, i.e., Linux kernel 6.8
New options in Zorin Appearance, refreshed software, and a newer Linux kernel and graphics drivers stack make this release an enticing one for fans of the distro.
Users of Zorin OS 17 can upgrade to Zorin OS 17.2 from the Software Updater tool by installing all available updates.
Those not yet using Zorin OS, but keen to, can download Zorin OS 17.2 from the distirbution’s official website.
Zorin OS Pro is available as paid download. It includes additional software preinstalled, extra eye candy, and access to support.
