The Ethereum Foundation has launched Project Odin, a 12-month initiative aimed at ensuring lasting financial stability for public goods teams. The program focuses on builders of open-source tools, node software, and security protocols vital to the network but lacking commercial revenue.
The Foundation for Verified Software, developer of the Vyper programming language, is the pilot participant. Vyper currently secures over $2.3 billion in total value locked across approximately 8,000 deployed contracts.
Project Odin will guide teams through funding source mapping, business approach validation, and recurring income generation strategies. This initiative addresses the instability faced by ecosystem contributors who often rely on one-off grant funding, leaving them vulnerable when cycles expire.
Strategic advisors will embed with each cohort to help teams diversify revenue, reducing reliance on grant cycles. Interested teams can apply through the Foundation's funding-coordination channel.
