Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has outlined a comprehensive roadmap to fortify the blockchain against the potential threat of quantum computers. This initiative addresses vulnerabilities in validator signatures, data availability systems, wallet security, and zero-knowledge proofs.

The plan includes transitioning from current BLS signatures to more quantum-resistant "hash-based" signatures for validators. Enhancements to the data availability system and the introduction of EIP-8141 are proposed to allow wallets to adopt future quantum-safe signature standards. For zero-knowledge proofs, which are crucial for privacy tools and layer-2 networks, the roadmap suggests developing quantum-safe alternatives and implementing "validation frames" to bundle proofs efficiently, thereby managing verification costs.
