Franklin Templeton has agreed to acquire 250 Digital, a cryptocurrency investment firm spun out of venture capital firm CoinFund. The move marks a significant step in the asset manager’s growing focus on digital assets.
With over $1.7 trillion in assets under management, Franklin Templeton is positioning itself as a leader among traditional financial institutions entering the crypto space. The acquisition aligns with broader industry trends and supportive regulatory signals.
Upon closing, the new entity will operate as Franklin Crypto. Industry veterans Christopher Perkins and Seth Ginns will lead the division, reporting to Sandy Kaul, Head of Innovation.
The deal is expected to finalize in the second quarter of 2026, pending standard regulatory and client approvals.
