Hyperliquid is making its case to US policymakers. Co-founder Jeff Yan met with legislators to push for integrating onchain derivatives into the country's regulatory framework, with discussions centered on the CLARITY Act.
The meetings were essentially a policy education effort, explaining the technical mechanics of onchain trading. Hyperliquid opened its Policy Center in Washington on February 18, led by Jake Chervinsky, formerly chief policy officer at the Blockchain Association. The center aims to bridge DeFi trading with traditional regulation.
The CLARITY Act is a key focus, with Hyperliquid's team believing a genuine policy window exists. The center also addresses criticisms from traditional exchanges like CME and ICE, arguing that onchain markets offer greater transparency since every trade and liquidation is publicly verifiable.
