Billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller believes stablecoins are poised to become the backbone of global payment systems within 10 to 15 years. He cited their efficiency, speed, and lower costs compared to traditional infrastructure, highlighting the productivity gains from blockchain technology and stablecoin usage.

Despite his optimism for stablecoins, Druckenmiller reiterated his long-standing skepticism towards much of the broader cryptocurrency market, calling it a "solution looking for a problem." However, he acknowledged Bitcoin's established position as a store of value, attributing its success to its brand appeal and user adoption, even if it wasn't its original intended purpose.

Druckenmiller also questioned the long-term future of the U.S. dollar as the global reserve currency, suggesting that while it may outlive him, its dominance could diminish within 50 years, potentially being replaced by an unspecified crypto asset.
